3rd time in 2 months I get the phonecall:

"hun did you buy something from a guy in Arkansas?"

"uhhh, whut?"

"I don't know, it looks like it's leaking something though, and smells funny.."

"did you open it?" :idunno:

"no!! I don't know if I should call the police or you are buying more crap off ebay, do you remember buying anything recently?"

"I think I might have..if I knew what it was." :hmm:

"great, well I'll leave it on the sidewalk and hopefully we will both still be here when you get home.."

Then I spend the next few hours of my day (banned from www and personal email) trying to recall exactly what the hell I may have bought  . But it is always like Christmas when I get home and discover some new piece of random crap I really don't need, like brakes for a car that doesen't need them yet, or fuel hose in amounts I have no idea what even I would do with it...ahh the joys of the insomniac e-bayer.

I know I'm not alone, whats the absolute WORST useless crap you have ever bought there? mine was a used freaking water bottle - I think I bid because I thought it was new, then realized it wasn't..but was already in a bid war and had just won. Now I was paying 15$ for a USED water bottle (hyd. system actually) that was like 2 years old...I just moved the box from the loading dock to the trash, but I won!!

Just frightened me that there was at least 1 other person out there that wanted this thing, gross.

:rotfl: I thought I was the only one buying stuff like a madman. In my defense though, I am rebuilding a bike. Ebay is really handy for those odd parts that cost a fortune from the stealer. The other day I had to ask myself how many extra parts do I really need? The UPS man is getting sick of driving out to the boonies every other day to drop off some part that I just couln't live without.

Here it is:

  1. Cancel your PayPal account
  2. Cut up your credit cards
  3. Have yourself banned from any place that can sell money orders
  4. Have an IT dude block E-Bay from the 'puter
  5. Find religion (you can spend all your free time praying and reading the Bible)
  6. Quit work so you don't have any money to spend (E-Bay won't take food stamps)
  7. Give up any hobbies that may cause you to feel the need to buy stuff from said site
  8. Create EAA (E-Bay-Aholics-Anonymous)
  9. Start Drinking heavily (You won't care about E-Bay)
  10. Start chanting Hare Krishna and you'll get locked up
  11. Join the French Foreign Legion
  12. Repeat from step 1

I found myself surfing ebay way too often about a year ago, now I only look when I have a very specific item I am searching for. On the plus side I do have quite an impressive collection of diecast models and posters, I dont even have any place to display any of my collection.

Haha - coming out of the eBay closet! I love it! :rotfl: Might as well be crack, eh? :p

My GF went through that shit a year ago. Decided she had to become a collector of Hall pottery. About every third day I would arrive home from work w/a package at the front doorstep for her  . Now we have old teapots and pitchers all over the gaddamed house. I've used eBay for
selling stuff, but fortunately haven't been caught up in the buying frenzy.

more azzholic humor: as my paypal 'confirmed' address is a former address, I have now gotten the relatives that live there involved in the gig too, and thankfully it was some used bike brake parts that came shrinkwrapped in a nice thick black plastic lining...talk about suspicious :D

I know about this all too often. If there is something I want I'll watch it for minutes and even if I promise myself I won't pay over a certain amount I'll still wait til a few minutes left and try and win. Its fun paying for real slow shipping for things you don't need immediately because it's cheaper and it's more fun getting a package when you forgot what you bought! I just wish there were more things I wanted to buy!

I have gotten out of bed at 3.20am on a work morning just to try to guarantee a last minute bid (which i won)

Does any body else watch and keep refreshing the page when you have a winning bid every 10-20 seconds, dont know howd I'd go in a real to life auction as I start to get nervous/panicky :idunno:
