Well me and chain had a blast at the honda hoot. He started talking all this crazy talk about how he could never enjoy his 954 in Nebraska. How he needs to part out and sell his 954 to go v-twin cruiser shopping. So this is how it all started. It's Chain's fault. Three days after we get back I go do a track my weekly track day. I was playing with a really fast duc. and a guy on a rc51 (his first time at the track with the rc, the duc was fast and experienced). I watched the duc pull out of the corners while I layed down darkies keeping up. Of course I killed him on the big straights but I got to thinking there are 15 corners and 3 straights. The rc51 while taking his time to learn the track (though he use to be an avid racer) was slow in the corners but was fast out and I could only catch him on the long straight. So, It's not all chains fault but this morning I went to the dealer and bought a V-twin.








RC_51 of course.


Parting out my 954 here and selling the bike local.

I mean no offense to any 954 lovers here as I am a 954 lover myself. BUT, Wow I love the RC. It has so much potential. I already took it over to chains house to show it off. I think chain almost wet himself listening to the v-twin. His last words while I was leaving were 'I'll have to stand out here for a few more minutes so I can listen to twin drive away'. Tomorrow the rc is going on a diet to loose 40-50 pounds. I have rs-3 exhaust, stainless lines, lighter battery, 520 kit all on order. Lots of dead weight to remove but side by side with my 954 it's almost a dead even race.

I'll tell you what new RC owner. Put your cans on there, and get a good map and PCIIIr. Then get your suspension sorted, either stock or aftermarket, just make sure it is setup for your weight. Approach a corner, lean the bike, then go WFO through the corner, and repeat. Exit the corners like that for a day, and then tell me the RC51 isn't the best handling bike you've ridden. A better Duck for 1/2 the price, priceless Abtech getting one is like everyone joining the party We talk a lot of and horse around but the RC is quite phenomenal.

Just got back from the endurance race at Nelson yesterday. After that I have a new respect for the RC. That thing sounds like a freight train and a jet all at once coming down the straights. This one dude said he got the exhaust from Dan Kyle called 'Baby Face' I think. He said it was the same as Sato. LOUD and COOL.

Me goota have one. Someday.

Yo Bigkid, I see by the timestamp on your post that you were out carousing until the wee hours last night/this morning. Not a big surprise considering how happy you look aboard your new ride.

I've said it before and for Boof's benefit I'll say it again - had my dealer been able to swing the deal on an RC that he did my 954, this riding season would have been my second in a row on a sporting twin. But life doesn't always work out the way you intend it to and I admit to having alot of fun on my 954 while in Tennessee/North Carolina. Damn these Midwest straights though.

The RC-Fiddy-Juan is a pretty committed ride, like a pure racebike with turn signals and headlights. Bigkid's a burgeoning track afficionado here in Omaha and I'm sure the honking big twin from Mother Honda will serve him well.

Congrats buddy! It's a gorgeous ride.

Thanks everybody for the encouraging support. Ccwilli, I was actually talking to another guy who had a post on here about a straight across trade for my 954 but I decided I wanted a brand new virgin bike. This is my first every, never been riden virgin (and you no how hard those are to find) bike. We had to put the battery in it to here it run. Otherwise Cc I would have given some thought to your bike.

Yeap... having a twin is where it's at.....

Congrats man.. gear-driven cam whine and hat whole nine yards.. nothing likea V-twin, huh?

Unless it's a hairpin turn why does a Twin out pull an I4?  More horses with an I4 at the right RPMs.

The right rider? Won't make a lot of difference. The V2 is a bit easier to manage on corner exits (a bit less hairy), but a good rider on either bike will leave a slower rider in the dust.

ahem, never had any v-twin outrun my I-4 at the track last year!  

Just have to defend the I-4 a little bit here with all this ga-ga about v-twins.

BTW, congrads bigkid!  Look forward to seeing you and the RC out at the track.

OK, I have gone over to the 'other' side.  Just picked it up yesterday and am totally dumbfounded as to how someone who owns an RC can put stuff together totally backwards.  I spent about 4 hours today just taking stuff off and putting it back on correctly (and cleaning it up, as the bike was a total mess as far as dirt is concerned).  I haven't even ridden it yet, but after looking at the suspension (Racetech front/Penske rear), I can see that the former owner didn't have a clue.  That and Racetech has their head up their collective ass . . .

Oh well, it sounds nice and I suppose that once I get it dialed, it will be a lot of fun (track bike only).

I will post some pics once I get the bodywork sorted.
