'Like the CBR600RR before it, the main focus of the new CBR1000RR Fireblade strays away from the single-minded pursuit of absolute peak power or the lightest weight. Specification figures can’t possibly tell the whole story about a motorcycle’s performance potential, since the overall handling and performance of a bike depends most on making efficient and effective use of the engine’s full power throughout its entire powerband, rather than simply concentrating on the big numbers. The Fireblade’s totally new 998cc engine was designed from the ground up for
World Superbike levels of performance. Shorter and more compact than ever before, it provides a strong yet smoothly linear power delivery, with a new ram air induction system combining with a new Dual Sequential Fuel Injection system like that introduced on the CBR600RR to provide a breathtaking surge of top-end performance combined with stronger, more highly responsive low-to-midrange power output. In its chassis department, the quest for a more impressive range of excitement led the Fireblade’s development team to lean heavily on Honda’s astoundingly successful MotoGP champion, the RCV211V, for a wealth of design influences related to riding and racing performance, fully optimised handling, and a more intensely focused, yet
well-rounded range of circuit performance that delivers the potential for full World Superbike racing conquest.'

You guys catch that pic of B.Boz riding one on the track?
It's got the bigger boxier blinkers and the reflectors. It's also got a black wing on the red portion. Any takers that one is for us?
Now I know how the air gets to the box. It's a bit like the old F3 set-up, but better.
Notice the size of that radiator? Any racer knows what a radiator that big means.
How about the oil filter location?

Wow,

That is a lot of radiator!

And I like the filter location, like the R6, makes a clean oil change very possible!

Yup, that one is for us. Yeah I saw the size of the radiator, didn't want to say anything since everyone is saying how it is underpowered already, That radiator is massive, let's hope it's that big for the key reason

Geez!!!...that's a huge radiator....it increased over 500 square cm in size!!! must be a lot of engine to cool...I like the RC211V style ram-air induction...that's pretty trick...the HESD is waaay cool also...

I am not buying this 'underpowered' stuff....with a rad that huge, I suspect this bike will put down plenty enough HP for everyone...certainly enough for the squids to maim themselves

after looking at the bike mechanically (frame, engine, wheels, exhaust) no bodywork and such, IMO, the 954 is easier on the eye...thoughts?

Good observation on the rad. Finally Honda has the capacity to cool the engine. One drawback is balancing the extra weight of the coolant. It will be interesting how much it weighs. The 600RR is heavy. I hope the 1000 is not.

I was just going to comment on that. Way cool. Help me w/ the big radiator. Are you implying that Honda has left room to make 'improvements' in later years, or what?

What do you mean?
