Okay everyone, I am rebuilding an 08 CBR1000RR that a friend of mine inherited from he's brother.. Seems like he's brother was quite a stunter so the engine has some wear and tear, but the 6 springs that are mounted inside the clutch (main basket) to absorb transmission shock are all rattling (they have compressed and become a bit loose), I assume some hard clutch use for wheeling or burnouts was probably the cause, a new clutch basket is $250, my friend does not want to spend that much money on it yet (wants to make sure we can get it running and then might replace the outer clutch basket later on), the only issue I can see is that this will cause more engine noise when the engine is idling and the clutch take-up might be a bit more snatchy!! Is there any other downside or issues leaving it as it is? The springs cant easily be replaced (Honda doesn't sell them individually and the clutch basket is riveted together so not easy to open and re-rivet closed)

Regards Gary
