On my last two rides I’ve noticed my fuel light come on at various times and then go off. There is no change in performance and the fuel level varies. In the manual it states to look for a short or the fuel assembly may have to be replaced. Is this a common problem? The bike is a 02 954 with 31,000KM. The fuel assembly looks to be pretty pricy at $300 plus.
Well, ive had a similar thing happen to me. I just pulled away from my home, and the light came on. It goes off after a while but didnt come back on untill it needed a refil. I some times get it when im thrashing the bike (taking it to the red line) but it has only happened once. My 954 has done 18500miles.
I wouldnt worry about it unless its causing the bike problems.
had the same thing happen on my 954 a few years back around 15,000 miles.. Replaced fuel assembly and problem solved.. It was pricey, but worth it too me..
it started right after I had the pump out fooling w/ it
I'm not sure what I did to it
but I have yanked it out a few times to try to figure it out w/ no luck
whatever you do, order you a gasket or 2 & replace it after taking the pump off
I tried to reuse the old one & it didn't work out so well
I got another pump off the e-gay, but have yet to bother swapping yet
