On Friday night a mate with a GSXR1000 and I with my 1000RR were comparing how easy it was to swivel the bikes on thier side stand. I can tell you now that the 1000RR is heaps easier, the GSXR is really heavy up top and in the front while the 1000RR feels really balanced with only a slight bias to the front wheel which is easily controled.

I'm guessing that this is in part due to the mass centralisation design goal of the new blade. If its easier to do that way then it HAS to be easier to flick it from side to side. :idunno:

Can anyone give us a comparision of a 954 to a 1000RR for the same thing? I'd be interested it see if its a Honda thing or if it is because of the mass centralisation. It would be handy to get some comparisions of other bikes as well.

I use the swivel each night with the 1000RR to fit it into the garage, an think back now it seems easier to do it than my old 98 CBR250R. :idunno:

:huh: You going to have to explain that one to me.....but I guess it would help if I'd seen the movie.

The comparison came about because he was complaining how hard it was to do it on his bike after he followed me into my place and had nowhere to do a u-turn, and I was easily swivelling my bike so we swapped to see what the difference was.

I don't see Stuntas doing something so practical and exhibiting it on video......I'll have to see if I can find the movie and see what they were doing.

We were shown the swivel on the side stand trick at the Learners course.....damn handy way to turn a bike in a confined space. I would have thought that trick was pretty common place. :idunno:

It was a demo only, we weren't allowed to practice with thier bikes. I'm not sure if it was an offical part of the course or not, I doubt it. But it has proved very useful.

I did actually wonder about the stress on the GSXR side stand with the effort it took to do it and the foot is out further and not as vertical as the 1000RR. But the ease for the 1000RR as I rotate it a few degrees so I can shut the garage door it never entered my mind.

If I go down, you're coming with me! Who's the stunta? The one that picks up a move at a learners course our the guy that watches LVX videos. I say :banned: HIM :p

I just found the bit you are talking about in the trailer for the movie on thier website. I do it a little different, two hands lifting front and back towards me and take it pretty slow on the turn (about 5-10 degree turn).

Due to space restrictions I've got no other choice if I want it to fit in there with my car.

Um.. I do that move all the time. Basically to turn my girls CBR6 around in the garage cos I can't be bothered pushing it up the driveway, nor could I be bothered to clean the garage...

I saw it first in a Performance bikes article about useful low speed techniques (and no speed techniques)
