Being that I'm relatively new to sport bikes I am learning new techniques with every ride, getting more and more comfortable with what I can do with my bike and what it is capable of.

The other day I took a passenger on for the first time. Of course it was a bit different balance wise and really uncomfortable on the "man hood" when she was really hanging on, her weight was on me and my weight on on my.....and those were pressed against the tank....you get the idea.

Other than the discomfort I also noticed that my bike was a slug. Its normal peppy and powerfulness seemed weak :gay:and pathetic up until about 8000 RPM:huh:. The passenger (lady friend) I was carrying probably weighs around 120-130 I weigh about 200. The only thing I can say might have contributed is that I realized after the ride that I was only at 26 PSI in my rear tire and 18PSI in my front. Now I know these pressures aren't good for a single rider never mind a combined weight of 320-330.

So is this normal? I see dudes riding around on 600's all day with chicks on the back....do these bikes really die with double riders?:idunno: Could there be a compression or engine issue here:crap:, like I said the bike scream with just me on it from 2000RPM (well) all the way to red line, I cant keep the front wheel down from 1st to 3rd with the throttle 3/4 or more:freebird:.

whats up??

Ever tried moving the bike (when it is not running) and the pressures are low? It drags like a b***h.

Pump em up and try it again... I've been riding two up (and my son isn't what you call small and light either) and I've still got plenty of power... Just have to watch the right wrist a bit more.

First thing - it's good that the bike feels like a slug whenever you have somebody else's life and safety in your right hand so I wouldn't be concerned at all.
As for whether it's normal, no it isn't. Under 100hp I think acceleration is noticeably lacking when you're two-up but on a 100hp+ bike it hardly matters. Handling and braking is a different matter though :)
Even 250's get around fine two-up.
Was talking to my accupuncturist the other night and he drops his wife into work on the back of his 50cc scooter :)

K so if its not normal but the bike doesn't have a problem with just me...whats up?
I doubt anything is up.
If it runs as you want it to when you're on your own I wouldn't worry about it when two-up.

:plus1:.......

Although I would suggest you probly riding (accelerating) in the wrong part of the revs... probley a gear too high....

But thats just a Wild stab in the dark..
And as i no idea how you ride.. I maybe wrong:thumb:
