Always good journalism with this outfit, some nice photography as well. As for the results, the Honda made a good showing, but I don't put a whole lot of stock in these shootouts relative to what I'd buy, not anymore anyway. I think a guy would be well served with any of these machines.

Anyway, good story, good pics. :thumb:

What amazes me most is that the Gixxer 1000 went from last year being the greatest sportbike of all time, with reviewers gushing about how they couldn't imagine anything ever being better, to its current status as fourth place and badly needing an upgrade to keep up.

I'm also a little surprised that with the emphasis on this particular review being street riding, that the Kaw would come in first, considering the tall gearing that it has. For street use you'd never need to get out of first gear, since it'll do 105 in first!

Like you said though, Chain, any of these bikes are amazing machines that will fulfill anyone's needs. I just hope most of the buyers realize what they're getting into. A buddy of mine from the local dealership told me that yesterday a dad came in with his 18 year old son, to co-sign for him on the kid's first bike - A GSXR-1000! I hope it doesn't turn out badly for the kid!

Thanks chain, indeed another good write up from Motorcycledaily.com.

Personally, I can't see why we need to make streetbikes any faster than they already are. I'm more interested in things like handling, stability, smooth throttle response, braking Etc.... & yes....looks. The liter bikes are great fun, and I'll most likely always have one, but I'm having such a blast on my new 600rr...it can hardly be put into words. :thumb:
