Hi newbie from the UK here. I have read this is the forum to be on if you have a Fireblade so here I am.
My Blade is a 1994 its had a few mods over the years resulting it looking a bit 90s so it aint to everones taste. I have had my bike licence 13 years and I had a 1999 RRX back in 2002 and loved it and this current one is my second Blade. I have had other inbetween like R1s and GSXRs even had a RD350 YPVS but I would rather have an original blade.
Here is mine.

I have had this one 2 years now which is probably the longest I have kept a bike but this rides so well that I see no point in trying to find better.

I am collecting another set of farings 1 piece at a time to have painted in a more stock colour scheme to have the best of both worlds.

Um, you have a very unique blade. Interested to know if those are 929 wheels? The front disks, as they look like Brembo carriers?? but disk portion looks like it's on backwards? The rotation of the holes is off, no? Anyhow, the paint is great but not my taste (but as you said it's yours not mine), and looks really clean. Looks well done. :thumb: from me

Thanks guys as I said its not everyones taste, but I have had the usual stuff and when you go to a bike meet there are dozens of them all the same, but I never get that problem now. I must admit the paint scheme wouldn't be my first choice but the previous owner had it done hence me collecting a second faring set to paint in a stock colour scheme. The previous owner told me he paid £1500 for the paint as a mates rates deal.

As for the wheels they are off a vtr1000 Firestorm and the discs have been replaced but again by the previous owner and I have never took much notice of the hole pattern on the disc tbh. Are they backwards? It would be a simple task to swop them over. I changed the fork seals last winter and rebuilt the calipers and new pads but it never even entered my head they were wrong.

I can't say if it's "wrong", it just gave me the impression of being, well, not what I thought it would be. This is what I had in mind when I saw your rotors, as far as how the holes should look (see the rotational arrow). Anyway, cool with the wheels, that means 17" front. Still, great ride. :thumb:

No offence taken. I will have a look at the weekend to see if there is an arrow on them for rotation. I know they probably haven't. But unless there is an arrow or a makers name on them I don't see how I am going to prove which way they should go.

I'm fairly sure the steel rotor itself won't have a directional arrow on it. The carrier that bolts to the wheel is obviously on properly, as swapping the whole unit to the other side of the wheel won't make a difference. As I looked at the photo I wondered to myself how/why then the previous owner may have replaced the steel portion, and then went and put it on backwards. The only drawback that I can see would be the way the holes distribute brake dust, that's about it.

In any event, glad I didn't offend, no intention there. I love old 900's and yours is a beaut.

I just had another though (I know, questionable lol), but maybe the PO put the wheel on the forks backwards? Check the front tire for the directional arrow. Maybe the tire was mounted on the rim the wrong way and the disks are actually on right? The rim should have an arrow on one of the spokes somewhere?:idunno:

The wheel is on the right way as the spokes have kind of a angle to them and the front matches the back and that couldn't be wrong. As for the arrow that is part of the cast on the spokes it is no longer there due to the entire wheel including spokes has been smoothed and polished. The tyre is also on the right way. The weather has been rubbish here the last couple of weeks but I will investigate further when I next get it out.
