I would recommend this feature... :eyebrows:
And what Magina said. Important you get one that is quiet. Wait, that might depend on personal preference. I personally like the ones that will rock the hotel walls and make the neighbors jealous. :evilaugh:
Extended warranty is nice and make sure you know when the return policy expires. Another thing ya need to know, is what is the cash trade in value... in case ya wanna upgrade.

Okay, serious. Basic model seems to be the best. Pot scrubber and all that is a non-needed item.

I'm not an expert in this matter... I just know the machine my mom bought is about right. It has an extra door, it's extremely quiet and has several clearning arms plus one in the center. Uh... Bosch? Bausch? Something like that.

Hmmm...I read somewhere that the Bosch ones have "issues". Definitely get one with a stainless steel interior...it doesn't stain like the others and won't chip or crack like the other ones do.

Also, if it's within your budget, get one that has a food grinder. That way, any leftover food from the dishes will be ground up and disposed of. No need to pick out the food from the bottom of the unit...yuck.

I got a Maytag from Sears about a year or so ago. It's quiet and has been trouble free. It was easy to install too.

Consumer Reports is a decent starting place for dishwashers. Also try Epinions. I learned alot from that site. :smilebig: Happy shopping!

P.S. - this is one topic I never expected to see on this board. :rotfl:

I like these features:

QUIET
pre-heater (heats water if not up to temp)
clean sensor (stops washing after water rinse is clear, no more dirt)
dispose-all (the ability to handle dirty dishes without rinse off.)
clean indicator (lets you know the dishes in the washer are clean)
configurable baskets for any situation (;))

Mines a Hotpoint. It works awesome and is loud as hell. It's probably not that loud but I live in a smallish condo so the kitchen is right next to the living room and the noise is slightly annoying.

I don't know about other states, but in Missouri if you pay for installation of a dishwasher it becomes a fixture in your home and you don't have to pay taxes on it. It's almost like getting it installed for free. Whirlpool is what I bought, stainless exterior white interior, pretty quiet.

My dishwasher works very well, but can be painfully noisy during certain shows - particularly sporting events and races. It becomes rather quiet during commercials, though.
Frikken annoying.

Seriously, my wife prefers washing dishes by hand. We have a dishwasher that has been run twice in the last five years - by me. She just doesn't want to use it. :idunno: Kinda wierd if you ask me.

I hear that. I just moved into my new place including dishwasher... I traded one noisy one for another. The good part is this one keeps the noise in the kitchen instead of bringing it to the couch, the car, outside, the friend's house. :p

Got ride of my dishwasher. What a relief & now no more problems in fact I speak with 5 yrs of being free of it. So much easier & less costly to do them by hand. Honest to gosh that machine was a problem from day one even with its warantee.
