I wanted to see if anyone could help me out. I'm looking to buy some land in the Northern California/Southern Oregon area. What I would like to do is buy about 100 acres and spilt it with some of my family. But I don't know if I would be allowed to split up land into smaller lots. Are there laws against this or are there problems with taxes when you do this? If anyone out there is a real estate sales person or has first hand experience buying land I would REALLY appreciate any tips or info!

ND4SPDSHO : Normally you have to go through a zoning board to split up land.
That's about the extent of my knowledge. All I know is that there is a ton of red tape involved.

I should be signing my paperwork sometime next week. I'm buying about 3 acres in the country and plan to build a house in a few years. Sure wish I could afford 100 acres though!
