While out yesterday afternoon running some work-related errands, I noticed that it was a bit windy, but very warm for Boise for this time of year. It was pushing 60 (!) - normal for this time of year is about 39.

You know what I had to do - race home and pull the winter cover off the 'Blade, and go for a brief but spirited spin. All I had time for was about a half hour ride, but man was it sweet. Rode to the top of a nearby twisty hill (Horseshoe Bend) at just slightly beyond the speed limit :eyebrows:, grinning all the way:cycle:.

I've been tortured the last month or so since putting her in the garage for the winter, while reading posts about rides from the fortunate warm-weather .org members, reading the usual collection of moto-rags, etc., dreaming of high-speed cornering once again. It was so nice to be able to get out, albeit briefly, for a quick ride, and get that great rush once more, despite it being December. I rode as much as possible this past spring, summer and fall, but when winter comes I sure wish I had ridden more.

Brrrr. Same here. I was out Tuesday night (roads dry) to test out my new HID lighting (whoo hoo!!!) and just kept riding around. It was great!!! It was about the same time (upper 30's) but who cared! I was out getting my fix (well the new neighbors might have cared because they built their house right next to my private drive and my bike is nice and loud) and enjoying it!

Only downside was my ballacava (f*** if I know how to spell that much less pronounce it) is MIA and my little chin was getting chilly.. but it was really inconsquencial compared to the fun I was having.

60's huh? Man.. I am DEFINATLY riding the bike out there next time.. F*** that flying stuff.

Oh yeah.. did I tell you about the fiasco getting OUT of Boise!?! :)

I had a great ride into work this morning. The roads were all wet, but it's so nice being out on the back roads where there's no traffic - I didn't even care about the rain! Temps were in the 40s or low 50s this AM. They might be in the 50s on the way home, but it'll prolly be dark  .

No - what the heck happened? Weather issues? More mechanical problems with the plane?

You guys riding in the 30s can have it! I don't mind parking my bike for the week of freezing temps we'll have in the next month or two.
The riding here in La is about quantity not quality.

:) OK.. really, the entire trip was a bad National Lampoon movie. I'm on a SUPER tight project timeline and I needed to be back in my office for the afternoon (scheduled arrival 11:20 am local time - departes BOI at 10:55).

BAD seather at SeaTac so all flights are delays.. *frick* More hurry-up-and-wait at the airport.

5 tiny little jets (70 passenger tiny) arrive all at the same time to 1 gate. It's chaos. One of them is ours. middle jet on the left has paramedics waiting for it so they gate it and unload an ill passnenger. This takes time...

Then on of the jets on the right gates and is suddenly surrounded by police. Plane EVERY so slowly empties with about 1/2 of the people lingering on the tarmac outside the plane (this is an outdoor gate btw so all of us wiating for these planes get's to watch from the terminal). Police take up possitions around the plane, grab guns etc. and the last two deplane. A little guy is being escorted by what I an only assume is one HELL of a huge Air Marshal.

The guy is arrested (never found out why) and then witnesses interfiewed on the ground. All while 5 planes worth of passengers are all waiting for already late planes to get access to the gate. It looks like a Bombardie sales convention out there (plane is an was one of these):

Hours later we get on the plane to find out the weather is horrible. "Expect a turbulant ride into SeaTac". Crossed over Spokane and whame we start getting tossed (I do NOT fly well, OK). Captain has the cabin cleared. Flight attendant goes flying though the air and lands next to me. She shaken but OK. No more beverage service for the rest of the flight DAMN! I wanted the rest of my beer!!

30 min later we are on the ground, 3 hours late. I don't get home until 4 and the Boise is office is closed by then.

HONESTLY. I could have driven the 500 miles faster!! :)

I can't wait to do it all again!!!!!!!

I was NEVER so happy to see the snow covered Cascades and Olympic mountains as I was that afternoon. I got really teared up as we turned base onto final.

Hey AT LEAST they did not have to weld the plane I was goign to fly on, eh? :highclap:

In the end, I look at it as totally commical. If I was on vacation I'd likely be a tad more aggitated but as I keep getting older I find this sort of stuff ends up in the *you would not believe this* category as opposed to the *WTF is going on here!??! This F***ING BLOWS* category.. :)

That's pretty funny, Hole Shot. I'm glad you able to laugh about it. I also believe that keeping stuff like this in perspective helps us deal with the REALLY BIG stuff when it comes along.

I enjoyed meeting you. 'Looking forward to the next time when you bring the Duc.

I must agree, nothing like a December ride. Was a bit chilly when we headed out yesterday but soon warmed up. Wore the new 2-piece I picked up a few weeks ago and was comfy until it got around 70+ degrees, then I got a little warm. Put about 200 miles on yesterday. Seven of us went on this little ride and had a blast. Gotta love the southwest...year round riding.
