Hello there, was just wondering if any of you riders have NRC covers on your 929RR. I've looked on their website for applications but it doesn't state any. Can anyone clarify this for me on whether they make em? I know Factorypro makes it for the left side only but its pricey!

Thanks for all info that you can provide.

Thanks for the welcoming:) Yes I've tried searching on their site and it only has em for the 600's. Find it kinda weird how they don't have it for even the older Fireblades. Yes please if you don't mind finding out for me that would be appreciated. I guess I can also call them too and find out.

Thanks.

I called them two years ago, they said they were developing covers for the 929 and it would be ready by spring '02. I called them again in the summer of '02 since it never appeared on their website and they said they weren't going to be making any covers for the 929. Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be enough demand for 929 performance products.

Damn! That sucks bad. Thanks Cowboy for the info:) Guess the 600's have more demand than our bikes since there are more off them around and more people modding them. Guess the only option is to stick with the brittle Honda OEM one or the $240USD FactoryPro one which is just for the left side only.

I spent the big bucks for a Factory Pro cover hoping it would hold up better in a crash. One crash later it was destroyed. Maybe it saved my alternator/flywheel, but for the price of that cover I could have got a new stock cover and a used alternator/flywheel off e-bay (w/ money to spare). I was willing to give NRC a try but they crapped out on the 929. Needless to say I'm running stock covers again.

Wow you bought the Factory Pro, big money! I just have a hard time thinking of paying that much for one cover. How fast were you going when you crashed and broke the cover?

Did it crack really bad? Ya i've got a feeling its better to stick with OEM for now. Only thing its so brittle.

I was probably going about 50mph when I low sided. I had been dragging that side of the engine in corners so it was already worn a little. It was my first year racing so my technique pretty much sucked, plus I didn't have the Ohlins yet. Anyway I don't think it cracked, it just wore through. BTW, I had that little nylon slider on the cover, didn't touch the ground (worthless!). As luck would have it I crashed again the following year. Low sided on the left side again but this time I was going more like 70mph. The stock cover was scatched up pretty good but held up. The actual cases didn't hold up as well though and broke where the swingarm attaches, leaving me w/ a six inch hole in the back of the engine. That's what led to my 954 engine transplant project.

Damn good to hear it didn't crack though especially for the money that thing cost. Yes I noticed on the FactoryPro they have that little black slider on it and don't you think it sits a little high on the cover?? It don't serve much purpose besides protecting the top half of the cover and usually when the bike leans that far its the bottom side that needs protection.

When you crashed it was at the track right?

So how is the 954 transplant? Pretty much straightforward install?

Thanks again.

Ya, the crashes were at the track, both times at Thunderhill.

Transplant was smooth, bolted right in. Just had to change the wire harness a little. Also, the 929 airbox doesn't fit the 954 throttlebodies as well as I'd like. Runs good though.

Just wanted to let you all know we have convinced Billet Tech to make the left side cover for the 929, and it will be a lot cheaper and in my opinion, better quality than factorys. They should be ready in about two weeks, and available in aluminum, black anodized, and a custom black anodized and polished finishes. They will be available at victorylanemotorsports.net
You can go there and check out the covers for the 01-03 gsxr 600, they will be of that quality and for about the same price. The website just got listed, so it is far from finished, but check it out.

I believe that was a requirement for bikes w/ magnesium covers.

Billet Tech is going to make the 954 covers when they finish up on the 929's. A lot of people think they are the same, but that is not the case.
