Dan Kyle once explained to me when I was buying the R&T forks, the Ohlins R&T forks should be called Ohlins Street forks, since they're suited to the typical street conditions, if you are running your bike mainly at the track you want the superbike valving (I dont, so I didnt).
So I don't know the reasons behind it, but hearing Dan say that, was enough for me to make the right purchase decision.
I talked to Dan and he said damping wise the 06 Ohlins SBK valving would allow me to run a lighter front spring and is what he recommends for Track Days and/or racing. He said this setup would be better than R&T valving, 03 Ohlins SBK valving, and a stock front fork re-valve, so I took his advice and went with this setup over the standard R&T or 03 SBK valving. I'm planning on a few track days next year, it will be the first time I try something like that and this should serve me well
