Hello all,

I was just wondering how long the oil pressure light should stay on after starting your bike. When my bike (2011 cbr1000rr) is cold or has otherwise been sitting for an extended period of time, the light will usually remain illuminated for a half-second to a full-second after I start it, but when it is warm the light turns off the instant the engine starts up. I've heard it should always go out instantaneously, and while a second or less is not long, I'd feel better knowing what everyone thinks. Thanks in advance for the input,

Ian

That's fine. Remember cold oil is thicker and needs more effort to build pressure up, so it'll take a second. If the light STAYS on, that's when you have problems.
