I dont even know what to say about this other then, what the hell is happening to the school system?
It's called sissification.

Without all the details (even the message board doesn't add much), I'd say it seems like the dissenters all would rather have a principal who sits in his office and metes out punishments, walks the halls looking for "bad things" and that's it.

This guys seems to be able to equate to kids on their level while still maintaining the professional "disconnect" that allows him to be seen as the boss. What a horrible person. Should have been fired on the spot.

Sounds like he's a cool principal.

My Dad was the big kid in the neighborhood used to give kids in the hood, and his own kids, wedgies all the time while we'd all be playing/roughhousing. Sadly, I think if he did that nowadays he'd be arrested for some really nasty sounding thing.

The principal giving a wedgie probably was crossing the line a bit, but I don't really see this being too nasty a punishment so it's not really a big deal.

I'm trying to find the wrong in what went on there. I can even bet that the student laughed about the incident. The only real problem was that it was done in the view of the "normal" public and some uptight, moronic, dipwad just happen to see it and thought it wasn' right.

"The days of a school staff person laying hands on a student are long gone," said a woman in the audience.

I'm not sure if she meant that as a good thing or not, but think there is a place for corporal punishment in schools. I remember when I was in middle school the principal had a wooden paddle prominently displayed in his office, and sometimes he would carry it around with him. I never heard firsthand from anyone who got paddled, but EVERY kid in school knew about it and it was an effective deterrent (no one wanted to get sent to his office).

I had a fifth grade teacher that threw beanbags at students who were dozing or not "following the class guidlines". She was a lefty and had a nasty sidearm that would damn near knock you out of your seat if you weren't paying attention.

God bless her :thumb:

I had a principal who had the students sign the paddle after getting their licks ... strangly, it was considered a mark of honor to have your name on it, and I knew some who would intentionally get into "enough" trouble to get to put their name on it. :idunno:

Maybe a "swirly" wouldn't have gotten him in as much trouble.

My cross country coach was my english teacher; he tried to nail me with a chalkboard eraser as I was busy talking to a neighbor while he tried to teach.

Catching it and firing it back earned me a vacation from the rest of class that day. :rotfl:

Same thing happened to me, it was just a pencil instead of a eraser... :rotfl:

When they showed me the paddle I told them to drill some holes in it so they could swing it faster. Youthful me being a smarta$$ could have turned into youthful me beinga dumba$$, but it didn't turn out that way.
