Hey,

Does anyone know if you even can remove a dent from a frame? Sorry if this question is a repeat... I did a search but couldn't really find anything.

Thanks for any help!

I've had it done on a couple of cars. I doubt the tools would be rigid enough to push them out from the inside of a frame. :idunno:

agreed, i don't see how it could be done that way.

one trick you can try thats pretty old school but does work good is to get the dent your trying to get out hot by setting it in the sun, or after a good ride. take dry ice(which most 31 flavors/baskin robins sell), put in a thin towel, and put on the frame. the rapid cooling has been known to take out some nasty dents, and for the cheap price worth a try. i doubt it would do you any good on a sharp edged dent though....:idunno:

***CAREFULL WITH THE DRY ICE, IT WILL ICE BURN YOU. HANDLE IT LIKE ITS HOT METAL***

The thickness of the metal in the frame is nothing like taking a dent out of sheet metal. Notice on most cars you can flex the metal with your hand. I don't think its possible.

agree its a crapshoot, but don't discount the fact of rapid metal contraction, especially on aluminum. for the price, why not give it a shot?

Aluminun needs to be heated to try to bend, or it becomes brittle and cracks.

as i said in my first reply, to heat it up first, and should get up to around 180degrees by the method described. if not a propane torch would work. if it didn't crack when it happened, i doubt it's gonna crack coming out. aluminum conducts heat and cold quickly, so i wouldn't discount this idea completely. and for less than $5, and a half hour, whats it gonna hurt.
