Yep, my parents have been married for 50 years. Or at least they will be by this Friday.

My brother and I (my only sibling) got together three years ago and we decided that we would surprise them for their 50th and we really pulled it off! We split up the tasks between us two, my niece and our wives. The girls really bailed us out. It would have been a pretty lame party without them. There were lots of hoops to jump through. My mom's doctor was going to throw them a party because my mom told her that she didn't think us boys would have time, etc... so we called up the doc and invited her to the party. :smilebig:

The party happened on Saturday. We made up and excuse for my wife to leave so she could go help with setting up and I stayed back with my parents to make sure that they got to the venue on time. We lied and told them my nephew had a Christian Attitude Award ceremony at the church.
(We are gonna burn in hell for that one... hehe)

So, for the first time I my life my Mom was going to be early. In order to stall my parents I ran into the bathroom and waited. I texted my brother about this and he took great pleasure in telling all the guests. ha!

When I came out of the bathroom I thought my mom was gonna kill me for making her "late".

As we pulled in the parking lot I texted my brother that we were there and he met us at the door. The still had no idea at this point. My brother had all the guests line up against the entry door wall so Mom and Dad couldn't see them until they walked in.

We got 'em. We got 'em good! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

That's a hell of a coincidence.
My girlfriend just spent the weekend in Victoria celebrating her parents 50th anniversary as well :)

I don't know how it is over there BR, but in the states it's getting to be a rare thing these days.

My parents went through some hard times. They never did split and even now they are go to couple's retreats to make their marriage better. They rock!

Nicely done Ds, sounds like it went well. Kind of risky planning a 'surprise' party for a 50th anniversary though, did you have a set of defibrillator's on hand.:smilebig: Seriously though, fifty years is a long time! Congrats to your parents Ds, and your girlfriends parents also BR. That has to be something that doesn't happen every day.

That sounds like it was worth every bit of work. Nice job pulling that together!
And quick thinking on your part.:rotfl:

Just had my Mom's 25th in my garden last Sunday. Good month for love.:)
