Had a malfunction with my PCIII this week. I suspect it had something to do with the huge amount of rain we'e had lately. It began as a mild surge and then eventually would cut the engine while running. After a few re-starts, it would run on what seemed like 2 cylinders. I had to disconnect it and return to OEM setup.

Anyone have anything similar happen?
Any ideas re PC malfunctions?

thanks

yeah, that happened to me. Dynojet exchanged it. It happened to HondaGal, too, and she also got hers exchanged. Give Dynojet a call for a replacement.

Here's a heads up
I found what might have been the problem.
You may want to check your PCIII wiring harness along its routing.

A week or so ago, I got stranded by my PCIII.
Turns out that the PC wiring harness had worn through the wire jacket at the point where it goes under the tank. Apparently, the bare spot shorts out against the tank.

My guess is that the micro-vibrations from the tank against the wire just abrade through over time.

The fix is very easy. items needed:
-some electrical tape
-12 inches of clear PVC tubing 1/4inch or so in diameter, just eyeball it. But don't get it too big.
(cost approx 15 cents)

Seal the area well using electrical tape.
Using a razor knife, slice down the length of the pvc tubing.
Apply it over the harness.
Note: if you have trouble getting the tubing over the harness, just bend it over backward gently and it will open right up.

Run a length of tape down the slit to seal it.
That's it!

My PCIII took a dump a few weeks ago, too. It just quit completely while I was cruising down the left lane of the freeway. I'm still waiting for my replacement from Dynojet. They acted like mine was the first one to ever fail.

A friend of mine had something similar happen on his 'busa. After removing the PC3r and reconnecting the factory harness the bike would not start. When the PC3r was reconnected the bike started and ran fine. Weird.
