Possible to paint cheap bodykits from China?

Hey everyone,

I just bought a 2002 954rr, it came with the cheap Repsol bodykits from China. I want to paint the bike jet black, the bodykit is in mint condition. Am I able to get it painted black or do I have to get oem parts and then start from there?

offcourse you can paint that china plastic just make sure your prep work is the way it should.:thumb:

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible. My dealer pointed me to a site where you can get factory matched paint.

Motorcycle Paint :: Touch Up, Aerosol & Refinish Paint - ColorRite

To do it right, I think you'll be looking at some significant coin - perhaps more than getting a decent bodykit.

I found a small shop here that will remove and prep and paint for $1200 CAD. Is that good? I rather just pay some one cause I dont know what I'm doing.

True, but I've read here on this forum about horror stories about fitment. My kit is already fitted on and looks pretty good. No cracks or anything.

Maybe, I'll look around some more. $600 is better than $1200 I guess.

why not just buy another chinese fairing kit and sell off the repsol to recoup some of your money. That way your only out a couple of hundred bucks

Plan on using a sealer and the paint is likely lead based so no licking it :nono:

That's exactly what I'm going to do. I checked out auctmarts.com and I found a jet black kit for $400 shipped.

Probably going to ask $250 for my Repsol.
