Hey guys, as the title says im in the process of rebuilding my 929. Im looking into aftermarket pistons, rods, and cams but was wondering if you guys have any recommendations on what is the best and most reliable. I want to get as much power out of it as i can and i also already have a pc3.

Hey Boca, welcome to Firebladesdotorg! Can you post some pictures?

If you browse/search the site you'll see that the only one around here "building" 929 engines is @oldbastard.

He's found an old JE piston kit and bolted it on just recently.

You'll find that the parts you want are going to be VERY hard to find. Your bike is 19 years old, nothing new in production for it for probably the last 10 years at least. I would recommend whatever you can find, but the only piston kits that may be available are JE. There may be companies that can do a custom job, but anything you put into it will be lost at resale. Crane or WEB cams if you can find them, slotted cam sprockets, new chain and tensioner, and the cylinders may need to be bored and then coated with Alusil or something similar. Carrillo rods, and send your crank to Falicon.

Expect that if you do that kind of work to lessen the reliability by a decent percentage.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the mods you want to do will be a steep uphill climb. Good luck sir.

I will not criticise anyone who seeks to mod or improve their bike (or car) but with a 929 and the aforementioned difficulties with parts, the cost of the works would be wholly disproportionate to the value of the bike. Sure, we do not always see $$$ as our first priority, but a specialist dyno tune could see you with a result better than you might have expected. Even in bog standard form, these bikes are rapid, and unless you're trying to beat times on a quarter mile, their capabilities are more than most can handle. Just my view - not preaching. ;)
