I went to R.O.C. today and my bike got a little hot. 236 degrees Fahrenheit to be exact. I had my high beams and led's on. When I took off from the stop light, my gauges all went blank and the tachometer wouldn't work. The only light that was on was the high beam light. She ran fine and when I turned the brights off, the speedo and everything came back on until it all just went blank and she ran for a little while longer. I got to another stop light and she sputtered out and died. After appx. an hour I turned the ignition and everything lit back up but didn't have enough to turn over. I jumped it and she idled for 2 minutes then died again. After 4 hours I push started her and she ran for five minutes. Is it my rectifier or my stator?

Get a multimeter, do the tests of the charging system.

It's your rectifier! oh wait a second..it's your stator? How the hell would anyone know here without testing it? Why not just buy everything, replace it all, your going to need to anyways prolly eventually.

These threads are getting old. 1 post, and charging problems. The answer is already in here countless times. You could search this site, or you could use the thing called GOOGLE. Switch up your key words a few times, and you'll find a WEATH of information on this subject.

Sweet glad somebody said something. There is pages and pages of just stator rectifier stuff all over if just searched for 30 secs or or Google will end up linking you to here anyways lol.

Sorry. I was just freaking out. My bike is my baby. I just ordered a new stator because I know these bikes have stator issues. Had a really long day dealing with missouri highway patrol because of the ride of the century. Thanks for your guys' help. I just wanted an answer specific to my predicament. Thanks again.

The only way to get a specific answer is to test each of the components to determine if one has failed, or if something has simply come unplugged.

Why do the work yourself when you can ask other people to do it for you? That's exactly why I posted up about people coming on here, no intro or anything, and just expecting the forum members to solve their issue, usually without so much as a please or thanks. :thumbd:

Well, do something about it. From now on just tell them all to split the cases for everything they ask about and teach them a lesson on how forums provide crystal ball accurate answers to all their 15 year old bike woes. :rotfl: Oh, didn't anyone ever tell you Google is just for restaurant locations, ordering pizza by phone, and finding porn sites?

I never ask forums for troubleshooting anything mechanical or electrical, even if I'm lost, because most members can't fix their own bike anyway and sit in their underwear using Google to make themselves look useful. I don't even ask for capacities for any fluid, because it takes 3 pages of challenges to end up with a wrong answer anyway. Try asking about oil, filters, additives, and it's like kicking a hornets nest. You'll get 6 pages of garbage then!

Any $25 Clymer's or Haynes manual has most of what a biker needs to know for basic troubleshooting.
Forums are for word games, photo games, and watching people freak out over nothing.

But Americans will spend hundreds of dollars specifically to avoid downloading a manual. It's usually five or six pages into a thread constantly telling them to get a manual before they'll finally have a brainwave and get a manual or a multimeter! And why don't Americans understand that you recharge flat batteries instead of replacing them? By the time they have the afore-mentioned brainwave they have a shelf full of brand new flat batteries...but no charger

I just this week spent $140 buying manuals for mine and my mate's new (to us) vans - best investment you can make when owning any vehicle.

Well said, but I do live in this God forsaken land only because I was born into it. I hate being stereotyped by a region. I own dozens of manuals to all the bikes that I no longer own anymore! I can part with a bike, but not the manuals, especially when no one asks if I have one for it! I do repeatedly get the same bikes too for some reason, so I'm so glad my manuals again gets revisited. Crazy Americans we truly are I guess, have you seen our choice for presidents for example?

I have boxes of manuals and dedicated hard drives just for e-manuals, even for cars and bikes I would never want to ride let alone own, they're all packed with mechanical engineering treasures

I was stereotyped in reverse on this forum some time ago when somebody being nasty said that all Australians are obnoxious know-it-alls like Bladeracer ;-)
