Bought a 93 900 and going through a couple electrical quirks. Bike is 100% bone stock-no mods whatsoever.
1. Oil light stays on until you raise the side stand.
2. Charging system is working, but if bike is warmed up really good & you shut it down, sometimes it will start right back up,sometimes it will crank but no spark. After it cools awhile it fires right up.
Thx

Hi and welcome!

Sounds like something as simple as a bad ground. I believe the side stand switch and the oil pressure switch/neutral switch share a ground, so look for frayed or pinched wires in those sub harnesses. That could also be the hard restart reason as well. Those 2 safety systems will play a roll in starting the bike (obviously). The stator has nothing to do with spark or ignition, all it does is generate AC voltage to the regulator, which then the regulator sends it to the battery.

The oil pressure switch wire will sometimes ground where it passes in between the clutch cover and ignition cover.

Do you have any pics???
