Not all the property taxes, just the ones that applied to property at that time. If you've sold or bought since then, it's a new game. My property taxes are sky high.

No...the education system has been FUBAR'ed by a lot more than just that.

edit: capitalized the acronym

No big surprise here, but at least we're not last It's sad that I immediately looked to the bottom of the list to see how close LA is
When they approved the casinos about 10 years ago, the way they sold it to the voters was that a big part of the tax revenue would go to education. The casinos are paying loads of taxes, yet we're still wondering where all that money is going...

abtech : That list appears to be a duplicate of the list showing the states with the highest per capita tax in descending order . . .
My first thought too.

The taxes in Cali are very high (as you know) but it certainly doesn't seem to be for infrastructure. We must take our education money and spend it on enforcing our 'useful' gun control laws.

Education in this state is pretty bad. If you live in the right area, you could get a good public education when I was in grammar school...but I don't see it anymore.

We'll see what happens today...Arnie is very interested in the school system.

One more thing...I don't know how these tests are administered, but CA has a disproportionate number of kids whose first language is not english.
