954 wheels there's nothing in it.
929 wheels though is a couple of hundred grams in the rear and perhaps 100gms in the front.
I have '06 wheels but I think they're identical to '04.
You can save more unsprung mass in other ways.

I'm not sure about the 954, but I have a magazine that shows the 2000 front wheel weighs 4048 grams (8.8lbs), and the newest 2008 front wheel weighs 3736 grams (8.2lbs). If you assume the 954 wheel would be slightly lighter than the 2000 wheel, and the 2004 wheel slightly heavier than the 2008 wheel, the weight difference would be even smaller. I doubt you'd ever notice the difference.

I went from stock 01 wheels to 06 1000RR wheels. also went to different tires. can't speak of any noticeable difference.
