Hey all - new to the forum with a few Q's. I used to ride pretty hard on street and track from 2000 till about 2004 then sold the bikes for $$. Things have turned a bit and it's now time to get back into it. I'm looking at the current market offerings now and man... things have changed a lot!

I used to ride an 01 R1 that I loved - it was perrrrfect for me. Loved the feel, handling, everything. Looks like 08 R1's are in short supply now. I was pointed to the 1000RR at my dealer the other day. I've never been a big honda fan - just found them uncomfortable, but this new bike shows some promise.

All my previous bikes I got on clearance or steal deals. I've never went to a dealer and purchased the latest and greatest for sticker price.

Anyway - what kind of deal can I realistically expect from a dealer. What's a "good" out the door price including setup and all the extra BS. I'm in Arizona so anything "normal" in the southwest. Also, I really want the candy apple red w/ silver side fairings. I'm picky. I haven't seen one of those around - maybe it's a less common color?

If I start calling dealers offering 10k cash - will they laugh at me? (probably).

Just asking.

Thanks!!

I paid 10,600 with tax, oil and set up plate and title transfer...everything, and I got it in July. If you have cash being that the 09's are just around the corner I'd definitely try 10000 maybe even a little less. There are some dealers I found that won't go that low, but more than one was going for my price when it came down to it. If you are thinking Yamaha I'd go r6 not r1. (unless you really love it) At least not an 08'. As a track bike you won't be disappointed in the Honda. It pulls on everything in the straights, and handles on the corners like you've been use to it for 10 years. That’s not a magazine write up, but firsthand experience. I'm not necessarily partial to Honda either. The only thing I could complain is that its looks are a little plain. By the way...I use to live near Scottsdale...now in Michigan so I'm jealous especially since our riding season is about over!
