Hi,

I'm in the process of performing a fair amount of maintenance on my 1995 CBR900. It's been running like crap since I purchased it so I'm changing the oil, replacing the plugs, cleaning and syncing the carbs, setting the idle with a tach multimeter, changing the fuel filter, putting a manual CCT in and replacing the exhaust can (eventually). It bogs when shifting from a stop into 1st gear. I have to rev it to 3-4k Rs when taking off to ensure it doesn't stall. That's a whole 'nother problem and I'm hoping the maintenance I'm doing will fix that problem.

The bike was laid down by the previous owner and the exhaust can was damaged in the process. There is a seller on eBay who has an exhaust for the 900 and also says it will fit a Suzuki GSXR600 and a GSXR750.

Can anybody verify that a can from either of the GSXRs will fit our CBRs? If so I'm also going to look at GSXR cans from the same years. Here's a link to the auction.

VIPER EXHAUST MUFFLER HONDA CBR900RR 92-95 CB1000 | eBay

Thanks!

You can always retrofit... that's what I did... they didn't make nice cans for my first bike so I bought the cheapest used sport bike can on ebay.... brought it to a muffler shop with the bike and for a half hour labor they made a custom adaptor tube with their pipe bender and flanger etc.

so I say yes, buy it, and then do what I did.

Thanks, I didnt think of getting some type of adapter fabricated. Thats an awesome idea. Im still keeping an eye out for cheaper used 900 cans but at least this opens up the range quite a bit. The more and more I work on my bike and read the forums for help I realize theres usually more than one way to "skin a cat". :D

Seeing that a GSXR600 can is compatible with the 900 I'm guessing a CBR 600 exhaust would also work?

Yep! any exhaust can you like... you can put a cherry bomb muffler made for a 1986 Chevy truck if you wanted:)

Muffler shops can make it look great with a small flange. tell them to make the adaptor pipe go inside the midpipe, and then flange out to accept the pipe on the can so you won't be to even tell it's adapted.
