Been reading a lot on this site, thought it was about time to post.
Sorry if this is a re-post but I cant find anything to help.

I have a 98 Blade and want to put a smaller speedo on. From what I have read as soon as you swap the old one out you need to take off the plug and just wire up a plug for whatever speedo you want to use.
I'm also changing my gearing so one I could adjust to suit would be good.
Anyone know what speedos are combatible with a 98 Blade (pulse wise) and any that are easy to get cheapish?
cheers

Can't help you with picking out a new one but keep in mind that the value will drop drastically on your bike due to it becoming a TMU (True Mileage Unknown) vehicle after swapping the speedo.

Yeah thats cool. I dont think the bike will ever be the same and If I do sell it, it will go to a mate.
I think I'll check out Streetfighter sites for speedos, they should know where to look.
The fairing is gone but may get put back on one day...if I dont sell it first!

Good luck in your search. Remember to keep the old speedo. It's not perfect but it will help validate the true mileage on the bike if you ever get rid of it.

You can get a Speedohealer (SpeedoHealer - Electronic Speedometer and Odometer calibrator for motorcycles) to adjust any speedo for any gearing changes. I have a 95 Fireblade and fitted 99 Fireblade gauges. I needed a custom speedohealer to accomplish this as the pulses between the two bikes were different.

As to smaller speedos, here is a site that has some different ones:

Motorcycle Speedometers, ATV Speedometers, Custom Speedos (ElectroSport Industries)
J&P Cycles - Motorcycle exhausts, seats, mirrors, and more
Service Honda Home of the CR500AF

If you use one of the speedos above, you don't need the 98-99 speed sender as I believe these units use a small magnet on the front wheel just like on bicycle computers.

If none of these places will ship to Australia mate, let me know. I lived in Detroit for 6 years and still have my US credit card. I have a student buddy who ships me stuff and I give him some money for his time/travel money for running around (like about $20-25 USD). Anything else (shipping charges etc) would be at pure cost.

Feel free to email me at: simon.pilot AT optusnet.com.au

Cheers,
Simon
