Well i have a smaller Super motard that i build for road racing/dirt... but im taking the 954 to a time trial track this weekend... heres the story..

Im VP of Iowa State University Motorcycle club and we host a semiannual time trial race(isu wont let us race against each other) anyways its i windy course that i have designed and will reach speeds of around 45 mph.. the concrete is fair with some cracks here and there that have been fixed..

what would be the most i could do to improve my handling and make the bike handle well? I know theres no clear cut result... i want to be able to push the bike safely....( I dont want to put it down)

oh and i need advise asap...race is saturday and im building the track all friday

Your super motard would be much better suited to a tight and slow course than the 954. Kinda like golf with a baseball bat. If you must practise such overkill, lower your gearing, maybe -1front +3rear, get your suspension set up a little more compliant for the slower speeds and with slightly more front bias than normal and get a steering damper on there also. Oh yeah, hold the f!*k on!!!:D

A steering damper at maximum speeds of 45mph - what for?
I would think the biggest problem is that you're probably not going to get any heat at all into the tyres so maybe borrow some warmers?
Or can you do some hard laps around a carpark just before your runs?
Make sure you have good chain and sprockets and properly tensioned as there's likely to be a lot of transition between on and off throttle.
Are you marking it out with cones as they make it hard to lean right over. Something only a couple of inches high would be better if possible.
Sounds like a blast.
Any chance of posting video afterwards?

Gyroscopic force(spinning front wheel/tire) plays a big role in keeping the front end of a bike stable. This force comes with speed and since the speeds, in this instance, will be very slow you won't have much natural stability in the front. Add agressive turning and hard acceleration into that equation and it's likely the front end will need a bit of stability assistance.

This is just for fun, a chance to get into some good lean angles on clean corners and have some legal fun.... my "motard" is a 81 Suzuki TS 100 that i stripped to the point if it dont make it go faster it gets thrown away. and supped up the motor a bit.... its deff not a power house but it handles amazingly.... no chicken stripes... peggs are getting pretty thin on it...
