this weekend i have an opportunity to trade my 2000 cbr 600 f4 for a 02' 954rr the catch is...it has been sitting for about 5 years. the guy says the clocks and light all come on with the key and it even will run off stater fluid but wont run after that. im thinking injectors or ecu?? he says it has a power commander attatched and it might be faulty who knows. i told him to do a compression test on it and if its good then ill do the trade, what do you guys think?? im pretty good at working on bikes and injectors or ecu's arent too expensive to replace. is there something im missing or havent thought about?

Tough to say what you could be getting yourself into. Could be simple as removing a power commander, could stem to fuel pump, injectors, pressure regulator etc... Kind of stinks trading a working bike for a none working bike. I have been stuck on my 929 for a long time before trying to find a no spark issue. A compression test will be good but wouldn't be my end all be all. Really think this through. A 954 is awesome but not if it takes 2k to get it rideable.

Could also be as simple a really old bad fuel. Was it running when it was put up five years ago? Was it prepped for storage at all? A lot of small questions still need to be answered. Have you seen it in person, what's your gut saying?

As I said on your other thread. 5 yo fuel will be useless. They don't make it the way they used to.
