Ok so im into the final furlong of the Blade project now... Once the new swinger arrives this week it will only be paint left to do really.

Guess this question is really for Sime as he's running the same setup I will be...

What tyre size combo and sprocket size combo have you found work best for you?

180/55/17 is the largest tyre you can fit on there. I am running Pilot Powers and love them. Have you got a 17" front wheel?

I'm running a 15/45 sprocket combo but with the power of my bike, it is too much (can't apply full throttle in first gear without smacking my teeth out!). I'm going back to the 16T front sprocket to civilise things a bit.

Cheers,
Sime

Yeah got the SP1 front wheel too...

I'll be putting in a call to Tallon for my sprockets, is the stock front 17? Will have see what condition the chain is in when it gets here, if I need to replace it its no biggie but I really am at the end of available funds for the project now. Its already run waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over budget lol...

In the US, the front sprocket is a 16T. Originally, I went to a 15T and left the rear sprocket as a 43T standard. It was really good like that. Then, numnuts here decided to get greedy, and ordered a 45T rear sprocket with his SSA conversion. Now the bike is too edgy and I can't put any kind of power down in 1st gear.

I'm going to put the 16T back on the front (and leave the 45T rear), but when I order a new rear sprocket, it will be a 43T and I'll then put the 15T front back on. There, did I confuse you enough?!! LOL!

HAHA nah I followed ok lol

So your saying 15/43 is a good bet? What did that put your top end at?
Yup, it's an excellent combo. A little more punch down low but not too buzzy at motorway/expressway speeds up high.

Can't recall what my bike did in top with this combo, but it's all a moot point anyways. Remember, I have nearly 154hp at the wheel to 'push' me a little further.

Yeah but 12k rpm is still 12k rpm no matter how quick it gets there.

As long as the motor can pull the gearing the top speeds would be the same, just take a bit longer to get there.

I have ordered that combo for Talon so should be good by the weekend!!!

Cheers buddy

Sorry, that's why I meant. I meant that I have more torque to push me to the maximum top speed, which may not be possible on a stock bike. In any event, running a 15T front sprocket may reduce your top speed by about 10mph max, but the gain all through the rev range more than makes up for it!

Cool, my bikes not bone stock, it ran 120 bhp last time on the dyno, not too bad for 12 years old...

Full Akrapovic race system, k&n, dyonojet, +4 ignition advancer... Thats about it performance enhancing wise...
