What does it mean to have the gears/dogs undercut and is it something I could do myself. Should it be done on new parts or redo the old ones. Where could I have it done (how much $/how long would it take) thanks
Any links would be helpful.

I like the article - three types of undercut ....

Well they only list two types - and what they call a racecut is in fact a chep option - a fast road job and what they call an up and down cut is what anyone who was doing any form of racing would have.

Oh well - description was good enough I suppose.

I had mine done by Fast By Gast. $250 + any hardening they have to do.
Which cut according to APE do you think that was and could you also post a link. How long did it take you to remove the trans gears from start to finish thanks

I've replaced my gears with cut gears from a FX bike that a member here was parting out. Wow, what a difference!

It involves dropping the motor out and splitting the cases. Depends on your experience on how long this can/will/would take you. I've dropped and split my cases four times now doing different motor improvements, so it only takes me about three to four hours to get the cases bare. While you are in there, if you decided to split the cases, I'd strongly recommend measuring main and connecting rod bearing clearances, honing and replacing piston rings. A basic freshen up of your motor. Any advice along the journey is more than welcome, just ask.

From your response, I'll assume you have no idea what the artical is refering to. The "racer cut" referes to only cutting the side of the dog that is engaged upon accelleration. It is in no way a "fast road job". It is for drag racers that do not need positive engagement on decell.
The second option cuts both sides of the same dog. This forces engagement regardless of accell or decell.
The third option is to have your factory (partial) undercut trans cut throughout the gears. In the begining most people only cut second and third gears. They were the most likely to dissengage. I would suppose that the factory still abides by that thinking as it would be cheaper.

If you are drag racing, take the first option. Any other racing and I would suggest the second option.
