I previously posted about a swap out with a 954 seen here. swing-swap-out But i have also heard that you can swap the swing arm with a VFR. Ever heard of this? i dont think there would be ANY performance gains but it could look cool.

i had emailed this owener of this bike eBay Motors: Honda : CBR (item 180126768950 end time Jun-12-07 18:53:30 PDT) and he said it was easy to do and needed minimal modding...i belive a new spacer or bearing... its pretty sick looking and id love to do it to my bike as long as i can keep a 190 rear...

I wonder how long the VFR swing arm is, if it is longer it will actually give you a negative effect on turning radius. It looks amazing though with that undertail

Evil, are you asking if you can put a VFR swingarm on an RC or the CBR? I'm assuming the RC due to the forum this is in, but it wasn't clear.

Why, other than looks or possibly an endurance racing efficiency, would you want the SSA on an RC? I'm sure the swing arm on the RC is better for performance (stiffer, lighter, etc.).

You could try RAM (RAM single sided swing arm for HONDA VTR 1000 SP1 (RC51))

It has apparently been done with an RC and VFR swinger (eBay Motors: Single side swingarm rc51 vfr 929 honda wheel rc cbr (item 250124815471 end time Jun-10-07 19:57:26 PDT))

i was really curious for shits and giggles more than anything and i would do it for looks IF i did it. i have talked around locally and they said that the OE RC swingarm is much better. i guess it was one of those "if i had the money" kind of thoughts.

If "I had the money" and wanted something unique, I'd be looking at the RAM or even an Aprilia swing arm (I have a friend who fitted one to a VFR750, said it was pretty easy). Those are stiffer and would keep some of the performance level of the RC swinger. They are also a little more ornate than the old style VFR units.

here is a site that lists the various dimensions over the years for the vfr swing arm Honda Swingarm Dimensions
It also says that the rc30 ran at the tt with a 6mm wheel spacer in order to fit a 190 tyre, and that running with a 3mm spacer is common as there is no need to carry out mods with longer replacment wheel drive pins.
