Dear Community Members,

Over the past year, there have been updates to your community environment that have introduced challenges in usability and performance. We sincerely apologize if you have been negatively impacted. Efforts to improve the technology, user interface, and site performance has revealed weaknesses in the platform and outdated software on the site. Once we started looking at how to address these issues, it became clear that we needed to determine how to fix the underlying problems.

We needed to improve user experience, site speed, and overall performance, all while providing a secure environment for you to interact with your community. For the past few months, we have been actively seeking a resolution to these issues.

We are excited to announce that we are upgrading your site!! We have been working with a design and product development team that has enhanced Xenforo software to provide a modern and much better-performing platform. Our goal is to deliver an experience that better fits the current and growing long term needs of your community.

The new platform is designed for efficiency, stability, and to be user-friendly across all devices, including mobile. More time can be spent engaging, sharing, and contributing to your favorite community no matter where you are!

This is just the first stage of the new platform and we look forward to hearing your feedback as we make regular and timely improvements.

Thank you for all your support!

Dear Community Members,

We have posted previous messages announcing a new platform coming to your community that will provide a better experience, faster page speed and work seamlessly across all devices, including mobile. We are excited to announce that Fireblades.org will be migrated to our new platform. The site will be in maintenance mode and in read-only while the migration is happening. This is expected site behavior as we move all the archived content over to the new sites. There should be no change in the content within your profile. All thread content will also be migrated to the new site. Your community may look a little different but all of the important information will still be there!

We will keep you updated on an alternative rollout schedule for the site migration. We look forward to your feedback on the new experience.

We appreciate your support!

Wow. I (as a short-term member) haven't noticed any usability problems. This platform is used by a couple of other forums of which I'm an active member, noticeably https://www.mvagusta.net/

Still, most of us know nothing about the 'back end' of these things so any efforts to keep this vital resource running smooth will be appreciated by all - or so I suspect. Cheers!!

As we were just discussing the admins and mods in the Greenies section, there is no way the 20 active members are noticing anything in regards to site performance BUT, we do appreciate that you believe the platform can still be updated and fresh.

That being said, it almost sounds like a "buy out".

What exactly are we looking at in terms of usability upgrades? Can you give us more specific changes? Skins, photo hosting, attachment upgrades, searching functions, etc?

I for one, do not want my cyber home to disappear or eventually get changed into a conglomerate of sites or partnership that lowers our standard here.

Will the user notice any visual or functional changes?

Thanks :smile

Ironically, I had started having problems with "FireBlades.org" over the last couple of days and was just about to ask Active Members if they had been having the same problems ......

Hello Ian. Earlier on today, I had a new one, I submitted a post and my screen went dark(er) and my website access was on hold. I shut down my browser and started up again.
I've had similar issues, but very sporadic and always seemed to fix itself over time.

Oh, and I've just remembered another one: I'm logged on (upper right std boxes), try to look at a posted image, and it asks me to log in again (on a new page, middle left boxes) takes me to the image in the same page (it should be a new browser page), and then I cannot get back to my session (easily), so I start again. Not all of the time, just occasionally.

YES! I've experienced that issue as well. A few of Nigel's attachments that I've clicked on default to a page where it says I'm not logged in and have to log in to view and it just doesn't work. Hopefully just a small hiccup that could get resolved in the new platform.

Just know you're not alone :wink

That really is a shame because I am most proud of my attachments. I'm not sure if it's because they're too large, but I am now in the habit of shrinking them before posting.

I do hope it's resolved now because when it comes to my attachments, I really prefer members to have the ultimate viewing experience!:grin:grin

It happens randomly, and less than often. I used you as an example only because you do post frequently. It has happened to other members's attachments as well.:smile
