I just bought a 98 CBR900rr with 24000 miles on it. It had sat for almost 18 months cause the PO lost his license. Took the carbs off, cleaned them up, put a new stator in it and been riding for the last 3 weeks. Last night I was bout 20 miles from home and just before I got ready to leave the wind really picked up, 15-20mph sustained with 30-35mph gust coming from the north. I had to go west and the bike HATED it!! During the gusts my bike would cut out and want to die, kinda like it was running real lean. If I was going by a house or a row of trees lining the road, it ran fine, but as soon as I got back out in the wind, itd run like crap again. And when I turned south for a mile it ran fine too. Is it possible for the wind to lean out the air fuel mixture that much? It doesnt make sense to me, but its the only explanation I can come up with.
