What have you done to/for your bike today?

Sure thing. I got the Large size btw. They have a Small, a large, and now if you do some digging there is an XL size with a base that lets you rotate from the bottom also (while riding), and sticks it out a bit further. I was wishing I got the XL at first but I think the L is perfect size. I do tend to have to move my arm a bit when I look behind me to get a perfect view sure, but I had to do that with bar end mirrors, too. I got my set on Aliexpress for like $30. It's the same aluminum set. Also you can still rotate the angle of the whole mirror, but you have to set the angle before putting them on the bike, as the screw for rotation is underneath.

Ive taken the bike up to 135mph ish and they have never once closed on me or rotated in any way. Solid. Can't say the same about those bar ends. Also, once you get the mirror set right, you really can see pretty darn good. It just takes some getting used to. I will post closed and open. Bike is pretty dirty in the pics, darn.

I think I could have got a better angle. These are pics I took when I first installed them. But yeah I love them. That chinese smoke windscreen is getting plum colored in the sun. Need to get a clearski.

Ya idk. I saw a rider I occasionally watch on YouTube go from the L size to the S size like you have there. Must work for somebody. But I would never run them that small and for me the L size is juuuuust workable and any smaller is just going deeper into the bad side of the risk/reward ratio. One p.i.t.a. to consider that I dont see people mention is when you open them they really need to be opened to a pretty perfect angle. Because of the shape of the lense, it really has to be opened just right and so you're not gonna be closing and opening them all day in all likelihood. If the lense was smaller.. I just can't imagine them being usable in any way, and I am pretty slender.

I haven't and won't be starting a career of running from the cops and going full balls to the wall so I do need to know what's going on behind me and the L size I think is sexy anyway so. Iiiii would advise against the S size lol but ymmv and like I said, I have seen one case in the wild where someone went smaller lol. But most people in the review boxes say it's for looks and they can't see shit lol. For me with the L size, it IS for looks yes but I can still see what I need to see, when I need to check.

Definitely do some reading on it... my throttle tube was listed as being for 06-18. I hate the stock twist, too.
As for compatibility I am really not sure... here is why. When I was doing reading on the subject for my new fireblade, the closest I could find were guides for cbr 1000 and close-ish in year, and not 954rr. And in those guides it describes how there are some little notches at the bottom of the throttle housing , and you need to either grind those off for the r6 tube to fit, or you need to grind the bottom of the r6 tube, one of the two. I had assumed the throttle tube housings would in all likelihood be the same but the inside of mine did not look like the pictures I was seeing. It definitely did not fit right, but there wasnt anything I could find to grind inside the housing. The tube was much too tall. I ended up really grinding the crap out of the r6 tube to get it to fit. I even ground down the part the cable touches, and smoothed it. I have checked since, and there is no fraying. BUT. When I went to put it back on, I moved the housing on accident and when it moved it fell into place where it is supposed to be/lock into the clip on, and it fit much better than before. It could be that all I had to do was a tiny bit of buzzing off the bottom, or maybe it would have been direct fit. I have no idea unfortunately.

You will have to lift the tank, and gain the extra couple mm of cable length by adjusting the other end, but it will fit. There are people who claim it is possible to do it without lifting the tank... I would seriously advise against trying, you will spend more time trying to force something that doesnt want to work and maybe break something (like the cable) lol. Its not good. Its really easy to adjust it under the tank.

Ever since though, because of my botch job on the throttle tube, I have been wanting to replace it with something nicer. I have been thinking of getting a new r6 tube, an r6 tube housing (it doesnt have the start/kill switch etc on it, just runs cables) and get some r6 cables for it (maybe have to get extended ones, id have to look into it) and then do a custom start/kill switch. Maybe even just get the r6 start/kill and see if that can be done. I think the r6 throttle housing looks better. But ive already modified the loom for my turn signals/brake/running lights, and don't really want to add more splices and soldering points. So I don't know. Maybe it doesn't matter anymore. It's been cut already.

Would be great if someone else could do it to their 954rr, see if it fits in the housing with just a little bit ground off the bottom. It may not need any grinding at all. It could be that my whole problem was it wasn't seating properly on the clipon. Even though I don't have evidence of fraying it bothers me that its a bit of a hack job. And I bet my throttle twist would feel a lot better if it wasnt the way I made it. Although it feels fine really. But I bet it would feel more freely rotating. Id love to know if you decide to do it for science.
