anyone run saddlebags on their 929/954? I'm probably going to pick some up soon, and don't know where to start looking...

Not really a saddle bag, but I've got a nice Ventura from a fellow member. Have only day tripped with it so far, but it seems capable for longer trips too.

I don't use saddlebags, ever since I discovered this luggage The Ventura stuff works great. Two bolts, and the rack is off, with the exception of the small cross piece that stays permanently mounted, and is not very visible.

Can this rack be used if the stock fender is removed?

I use oxford sports and love them... :thumb: have the tail pack and the saddle bags as well...Worked well on the 929 until I put the undertail on and took off the tie down hooks :p Have yet to try them on the 1000RR but I am hoping to this weekend :thumb: , I'll let you know how I make out.

I basically have this setup from Tourmaster, but the tailpack is different.

Almost every ride, I use the Joe Rocket "Sport" tankbag (lower portion, as it is a 2 level), which in testing has been almost waterproof without the rain cover. The large top portion has a cool backpack feature, though a full face won't fit inside. Oftentimes, this is enough for a long daytrip or overnighter.

On a side note, when the wife and I use the saddlebags, she ends up taking everything but the kitchen sink. She doesn't understand the concept less is more. I started making her pack "her" tankbag with her stuff when we were 2 up, and wearing it as a backpack. She has the Icon tankbag:

Once you get good at minimizing, a good tailpack and tankbag should meet your needs if it's a shorter solo run.
