This weekend I went to The Texas Mile, in Beevile, Texas. Were they rent out the airport and everyone can see how fast their car or bike can run in a mile.

Most of the bikes were hayabusas but there were a few othe ones. I saw a Hayabusas go 244mph and a Ford GT go 210mph

It was cool

I was a little disapointed in my bike, I have a 1995 CBR900RR with stock gearing and all I could get out of her was 162mph

I weigh 300lbs and figure that has alot to do with it, but when I was about 220 my 600 F2 cod hit 172mph.

So I ask th question How Fast is your CBR900RR???

162mph sounds like a good strong 15-year-old 900RR.
That's about all they got out them when they were new.
Your F2 certainly did not do 172mph - unless it had extensive modifications.

I got the f2 from a motorcycle cop that had done some mods to it, I never got the full info but always thought it was fast compared to other bikes I rode, I did go to jail on it when I was 19 for going 167mph in a 70, after two days and $675 later my bike and I were out. So I'm pretty sure it had some internal mods because my 900 pulls a little harder but the f2 never stoped pulling.

167 in a 70 LOL over here the maximum speed limit is 70mph anyway.. you would defo go to jail here too. The law now jails peeps for well over the limit speeders.

100mph is an instant ban anyway.... moral of story head down 167mph blue lights in mirrors keep going and don't stop .....:)

MY 94 900rr now does 80 - 85 Mph @ 7K Rpms on about half the throttle, and I'm weighing in at a solid 275 - 280.. That all equals "Fast Enough"

I've seen 165 on the clock. There are 3 old runways here in Czech that we use for free and we regularly mess about on our bikes there. I always get beaten by my mates speed triple but only just!

Not so, i got a 2 week ban for doing 109 on the m4, then 6 months later some big fines and 6 points for 106 on the m4, but no ban second time, i did plead like a man on his way to the gallows though.

Unless you use a GPS or go to a timed event, speedometers are useless for anything but a good guess at top speed. Even with stock gearing, speedos are so far of at top speed that they arent worth looking at. Now throw in a gearing change, and they are more useless.

I run a stock front sprocket and 1 down on the rear of my gsxr, and the speed still is not even close. So I always have a GPS timer on my bike just to brag to myself... :rotfl:

If anyone ever has the chance to do land speed "racing", I would advise to do it, just to let you know exactly how fast, or not fast your bike actualy is. :eyebrows:

My 97 918 was through the speed trap at Bruntington in 2001 at 175.

I bought it a few weeks ago.it has a tuned motor but dont know whats been done to it.

In 2002 the guy that bought it committed suicide and the bike has been stood unused since. He was into sprinting the bike Nd did a 10.09 standing quarter. I found it in an old post by searching his name.

My previous blades rrn rrt rrv 160 ish rrv 171 mph. My latest rrv ill let you know when weather improves . I think its like the other guy says if you have correct timing gear etc . Bearing in mind some have sprocket changes ie lose a little top end . Also what tune or state engine is in . Weight of rider etc. I read yrs ago some people ran blades in quite tame and others were quite aggressive apparently some of the latter were faster in comparison.

I'm going to hazard you wern't on the welsh side of the M4? They are absolute b-words for speed. They made my girlfriends brother in law go back to wales to do a speed awareness course or take, he lives in kent!

30 mph residential, 55 mph urban freeways, 65 mph night interstate speeds, and 70 mph daytime interstate speed is all I can do. Utah and Wyoming you can hit 80.
