Hi guys - just knocked my bearings out of my front wheel, a CBR900RR-W wheel and the bearings say 6004LU on them instead of 6204UU which is what I was expecting. I ordered replacements from Wemoto.com and they've sent me 6204RS which are way too big.

Any ideas? Are 6004LU and 6204UU the same size? Cheers guys.

6204UU should be 20x47x14 sealed both sides.
6004UU are 20x42x12 sealed both sides.
Never seen LU before - sealed one side only maybe?

I thought the W/X ran 47mm bearings?
Are you sure the wheel is the original?
What date stamp does it have on the spokes?
Did you order new grease seals as well as the bearings?

EDIT: I just checked and it should be the 47mm bearings.
Is it a 17" F3 wheel?

Hmm- it says 21R on the wheel next to the honda logo stamped. It's very strange, this bearing business. 20x42x12 looks about right for what I have here, compared to the 6204RS I have next to it.

The earlier wheel runs 42mm bearings but the bolt pattern is different for the discs I thought.
Are your discs the correct 310mm or the earlier 296mm ones?

I also just noticed you're in the UK where people have an annoying habit of determining their bike model by year of registration instead of the year model.
Is it definately a 98 model and not a 97 model?

I have no idea how to tell the difference between the two wheels, the discs are stamped with KBA 61000 if that helps? Have 6 bolts each.

On one of the spokes will be a circle with a line through it and the number 98 if the wheel was manufactured in '98 (a '98 model can have parts marked 97 though so that's not a big help). Is the tyre a 16" or 17" tyre?
Measure the diameter across the discs - 14mm is a very obvious difference.
The main thing is does the VIN tag say the bike was manufactured in '97 or '98?

Yeah, it's the older wheel- date stamp 96 and has the 296mm discs on. Hmm- I'm pretty sure the bike itself is 98, can't seem to lay my hands on the V5 atm.

The only concern if you're running the 296mm discs on the 98 model is that the pads can wear to a step until they meet in the middle outside the sweep of the disc and you suddenly find yourself with no brakes.
I don't know what a V5 is but the bike should have a VIN tag on the frame.

Ok Im stuck also, I have a black front rim on the bike now and a chrome one waiting. I went and bought bearings for the bike and they are wayyyy to small on the outside diameter for the chrome rim. I ran the # on the dust seal for the rim on the bike and I found that it was for a 93 VRF750 I THINK. :thumbd:both rims I have are 16 inchers

On the chrome rim the dot with the line through it is numbered 12 and has a 97 next to it, but the spoke that has Honda stamped inside of it has 98r next to it,

On the black rim the dot with the line through it is numbered 11 and has a 96 next to it. The Honda stamped spoke says 21r. My question is will the axle size be the same or can I get bearings for the same axle with a diffrent OD.

The #'s for the black rim and axle I have are as follows, the bearings actual #'s are assuming that this seal only goes with this bearing:crap: or that the bearings

Seal orginial # AE1544F-NOK, Honda # 91257-KA3-711
ID-20mm, OD-42mm, width-12mm

I know this is a old thread bump, and a little of the original subject, but im replacing the wheel bearings in my 919 and was wondering if they had to be machine pressed in or if i could do it the old fashioned way?

I've always put them in using a 3/4"-drive socket that fits just slightly smaller than the OD of the bearing.
