I'm looking at gettin a couple replacement shields for my Icon Helmet... do you guys know if the 'Fog-Free' lense really helps? Or is there an easier way to prevent fogging on the shield that came with the helmet?

Defer to the yankees but there is two ways. Fog sprays (never found a good one) or airflow. Two things on airflow, you can open helmet vents or in the extreme case drill a couple of small holes. The drill thing is hard to get right though.

I dont know if Icon has their own fog resistant lense, if so I have no ecperience with them. I have used Fog City inserts in the past with good results. I found that to use them best, buy a new shield to put them on and be careful of scratching the liner. I use an old wool sock to store my shields in when not in use. The the only downside that I have found is that there is a slight bit of haloing or double reflections at night, but the benefits well outweigh the cons with them.

:rotfl: the halo is from the oils off the wool, that is what makes it waterproof.

Hey Seamus,
Do you not have a problem with air comming up between the mask and your face? I have something similar to this (made by Arai) and I get streams of air comming up just outside my nose and into my eyes... I wore it a few times, and couldnt get it adjusted right, so I set it aside. I may have to try one of those Respros...

The respro mask has a small plastic clip, kind of like the old swimmer's nose clips, attached to the mask that goes over your nose. doesn't pinch as much as the swimmer's clips but it seals the mask just below the bridge of your nose.

It's hard to describe, but the helmet's two lower vents still blow air on the outside of the respro mask which comes up and through the face shield area. I can close these on a real cold day (like this past Friday) and it seals completely. It doesn't blow directly into my eyes and I like the extra outside airflow, I feel a bit claustrophobic when I close the vents without that air.

The only thing I'd like to be able to do is get the "wings" to fasten between the cheek pads and the helmet instead of velcro'd to the cheek pads. Once you get it fitted right though, it works like a charm.

One other thing I noticed Friday is that the warm air trapped between your mouth and the mask keeps your nose and chin from freezing.

Can you tell that I like this thing? I can't stop rambling...
