Clutch Diode system

Has any one ever junked this system?
I'm building a '99 based streetfighter with a custom loom but there is a light green wire linking the ignition module to the neutral light and clutch diode circuit.
What's the purpose of this diode system, can it be removed and what can I do with the green wire going to the ICM?

It works in conjunction with the neutral sensor to prevent starting the bike in gear with clutch engaged.
Try unplugging the clutch switch or connecting the wires together?
