Do you mean that you tried it and it doesn't work?
Yes, it does not work, I understand the concept, but has anyone verified this to actually work? I was sceptical, but thought what the heck, I'll try it. The light will not reset until the problem is corrected, and this method does NOT fix the problem. Malfunction in the servo system. Don't waste your time experimenting with this, just order the servo buddy.

What do you think the servo buddy is? It's this exact package in a neater shell.

Two posts, and both pointing people towards an extremely overpriced product, me thinks you're selling them?

I have no affiliation with them, I just know that the method used in this post does not work. I don't believe they use the same components though. If they are charging that much, they are legit and have done some research. Not just some guy with a guess of how something is supposed to work.

Or they are just some guy doing exactly the same thing but charging money for it...

But the MIL went away when you fitted the Buddy?

I am going to go out on a limb here and say that this possibly does in fact work. I have seen multiple posts that follow this exact procedure on different forums with people posting that it indeed did what it was supposed to. If I had to guess, some folks possibly reversed the polarity on the cap, which would render it useless. Double check your work to verify you have solid connections and everything connected in the right order/fashion.

That's ridiculous! Out on a limb for what? To suggest that this "possibly" works? I can assure you and everyone else who is looking to delete the htev system without a MIL, that the method this post started with DEFIANTLY does not work. 954 maybe, possibly, probably, potentially. 929 absolutely not!

The original post shows this being performed on a 929. For those that can't figure out why I know that, just give me your bike.

Spend your money on the servo buddy, rip it apart, and figure out what is inside of it if you want to, or simply let the stupid light sit there and do nothing against you. We are blaming a poster that is trying to help people save about $50, which for the 929 or 954 is a good bit of riding petrol. I am going to personally try this out on my 954 just to see if it works, for $10 or so, why the hell not! I'll post my results when the weather clears enough for me to dive into everything.

A flat spot at 3k rpm is a moot point as you shouldn't be below 4k revs anyway if you are looking for any power when you twist the throttle...

I've done the airbox flapper removal so far, but I completely tore down the system and left the teeny servo-motor in-place to avoid the MIL light. The weight is negligible for that little servo, so I figured why not.

I will be going to Radioshack in the next day or so to pick up the parts for this. Going to have the harness ready to go and at least replace the servo connector with the alternative. This will let me wait until next month for the full exhaust mods (full Hindle system next month), and tell me if this works or not. Look for the results some time in the next week? if all goes well.

Then what is this thread for then if not to get rid of that dame mil light

Did you read the thread?
It is instructions on how to make the servo buddy yourself.

:plus1: and :welcome: to the point of the thread! I'm still going to try this just to see if it does or does not work on the 954's. If it does work you're looking at saving about $40-50 bucks...

Yes I did read the thread the point of said thread is save ÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁ but in my experience buy crap by twice

Sure, but it's only crap if it doesn't work, and lots of people simply get a kick out of doing these things themselves :)
So you tried it but it didn't work?
